When I was thinking about writing a blog, it was mostly because people would say, “You have such funny kid stories, you should totally blog.” Or, “you have eight kids and homeschool, help me!” This is the best, “You’re so organized. I could never do what you do!” I will come back to that one!
My daughter, who is an aspiring blogger, journalist, student of journalism, has encouraged me over the last few months to give it a try. I’m even going through a very short online course.
Coming up with the first post was hard! In fact, I’m totally winging it! I want to share with other moms and even women who aren’t moms that YOU ARE NOT ALONE in your feelings of frustration, exhaustion, elation, joy, and right back to discouragement. Heck, this can happen to me in the matter of one hour at my house.
I have a passion for motherhood. Notice, I didn’t say a perfection in motherhood. I have 8 children, ages 2 to 20. Our family homeschools 4 of the 8 at this point. I also have realized I enjoy making other people laugh at the daily shenanigans that go on in our household. Did I mention six of them are boys?! I hope to help other moms get through their day with a little more perspective. And it makes me feel a little more normal when other moms share their stories.
I also love to encourage other mommies. I have a story to tell about how we came to have more children. I will share that in a later post. But, so many mommies want to give up after one or two babies because it’s just “too hard,”and “I can’t do it.” I can’t do it either. That’s why I chose my tag line to be Philippians 4:13 “I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength.”
With mommyhood also comes grace. I have learned over the years that I need as much or more grace than my children. I am often asking for grace from my husband, kids and especially my Lord Jesus Christ! Thankfully, he never runs out! So, I, should never run out.
So, I hope you will join me as we can laugh, cry, share our weaknesses and our strengths, but mostly build each other up on this journey called Motherhood. God Bless!
